Some of you might have heard of the stupendous achievement of a very unlikely group of people. A troupe of daily wage laborers from Berhampur in Orissa who have made it to the semi finals of a national dance competition India has got Talent beating all kinds of odds.

There is high emotion on the stage, when the group comes to perform dance on the stage. The best heart touching moment was, when they danced on the tune Sare Jahan Se Achha in the semifinal. Judges ware tearful and speechless and Bharat Mata Ki Joy was echoing from the surrounding. Please find the attached Prince Dance Group photo. Please watch their performance at You tube clip1, Clip 2, Clip 3, Article 1, Article 2, Article 3, Link 1, Link 2

About Prince Dance Group : This group was formed by a 26 years old guy Krishna with the help of the other from Gopalpur, Berhampur, Orissa. Most of the members are from the weaker part of the society and two among them namely Padmanabha Sahu and Telu Tarani are physically challenged. Prince Dance Group was formed when a group of daily wage laborers coolies, inspired by a dance show, came together to try to make a bid for the first place this year on Indians got Talent on Colors channel. When they made it to the Semi Finals last week, tears could be streaking down the faces of the judges Shekhar Kapur and Kiran Kher. The whole nation gave them a standing ovation. The finals are on the 22nd and the vote is going to be decided by 50% of the marks coming from the judges and the rest from audience SMSing in their votes.

Requesting you to make a difference to not only our State but to the aspirations of a group of people who have broken through the barriers of class to capture the imagination of a nation. Their success aside from increasing the pride of Orissa will inspire millions of fellow Indians to do the impossible.

Please sms PD to 56882. Please do this once from each of the cell phones available with your family, recommend all your friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues and mates to help these poor laborers close in to their dreams. SMS voting is open till 21st Aug, 2009 11PM

Extraordinaire Citizen Award to Sri. Upendra Tripathy - MD, BMTC (Bangalore)

Extraordinaire Citizen Award to Sri. Upendra Tripathy, IAS ( Managing Director, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation )

Please find attached the detailed news, It's at the front page of Today's Times of India.

We are proud to be Odia, Proud to be from a land that's referred as Sri Jagannath Dham.

We have shown the world that Our state Orissa can no longer be identified or referred neither as "A Backward State ruined by Super cyclone, hunger deaths of Kalahandi and nor even be referred by the incident of Graham Stains and Dara Singh".

We have proven universally that "Orissa is a state of Brave hearts, Supreme brains, Spectacular talent, Helping Hands, Loving Hearts, Honest Souls, Dedicated & Respected Personalities and Rock hard guts".

Sri. Upendra Tripathy receives PM Excellence award

Karnataka-cadre 1980 batch IAS officer Upendra Tripathy is among the officials who have bagged the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence. Tripathy, 52, gets the award for steering Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) as India's only profit-making urban transport undertaking as its key driver for more than five years before he picked a position with the Central government's ministry of tribal affairs in New Delhi last month. Driving profit: The popular BMTC bus on Bangalore roads. Photo: Stephen David BMTC recorded just a small 0.14 accidents per one lakh km rate, the lowest in India. Tripathy used to have his regular janata darshans for his employees where grievances would be immediately be attended to: from an injured driver seeking a desk job to a pregnant lady conductor asking for liberal extension of leave with pay.

The award winning officer also ensured that BMTC had tied up with nearly thirty big hospitals. Staff children got free tuition. He fit more than 1,200 buses - of the 4,700 with BMTC - with GPS device to know where the buses were. He has worked on a PhD on political economy of India 's ozone management policy at Carleton University, Ottawa. Taking a leaf from Lalu Prasad who talked of milking the Jersey cows to the maximum to ensure the maximum profits, Tripathy also worked his fleet to the max -- at 94 per cent highest fleet utilisation in the country - driving a profit of Rs 200-odd crore last year. Just before leaving for Delhi, Tripathy also prepared the ground for the BMTC to go for an initial public offer that will fetch the company about Rs 5,000 crore. The economic downturn has delayed the IPO process.

He is an ardent advocate of mass transport. As he told India Today earlier, "One bus can keep nearly forty cars off the roads and cities must have dedicated bus lanes called Bus Rapid Transit corridor." The environmentalist in him also ensured that the Kyoto Protocol is also applicable for the BMTC buses - earning Certified Emission Reduction (CER) by using bio-diesel in 280 of its buses to start with. For the uninitiated, the Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement, negotiated in Kyoto, Japan, in December 1997, by which industrialised nations have committed to making substantial reductions in their emissions of greenhouse gases by 2012. More than 160 countries have committed to the agreement thus far. If all its 4,700 buses run on bio-diesel, BMTC will earn US$1.9 million a year through carbon trade. It will also need a whopping 1.46 lakh MT of bio-diesel. Tripathy hopes that BMTC's model of success can be replicated in other metros. BMTC buses ply a million km today carrying three million passengers daily.
